  The 2027 General Assembly session opens Jan. 13, 2027 with a state report on the environmental, energy and economic effects of data center growth, which may shape new bills on siting, local planning and electricity costs.

• Data center power tariffs: what large users will pay

  Utilities have filed special electricity rate schedules for very large users such as data centers. Potomac Edison proposed terms for loads of 25 MW or more, including minimum demand charges, collateral and contracts of ten years or longer. The Public Service Commission is reviewing them in case PC72.
